Auburn University Offers Short Programs for Career Development

LIGHTNING RELEASES (9/3/2014) – Auburn University, one of the largest universities in the southern United States, recently announced a new slate of short online programs geared toward fast career development. The classes, which range from pharmacy to photography, last from three months to a year and provide successful graduates with a certificate upon course completion.

Auburn University Outreach, in partnership with Education Consulting Associates, is spearheading student recruitment for the new programming. The outreach efforts reflect an attempt to provide affordable and flexible online education opportunities that give students the skills needed to survive in a tough job market. Auburn University is committed to graduating debt-free students that are prepared to work as competitive and talented professionals regardless of their backgrounds.

With a strong emphasis on direct-to-employment education, the new certificate programs provide accelerated vocational training that can be used to enter one of the nation’s fastest growing fields, including: Childcare, Clinical Medical Assistance, Photography, Pharmacy, Nutrition, and Business Management. The curriculum was designed to connect students with careers that are currently in demand according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Students can use the online certificate programs primarily for degree enhancement or to earn a career certificate that will boost their resumes.

Some certificate programs offer classroom instruction in conjunction with externship opportunities in the community. Externships in areas like pharmacy give students a chance to build relationships with major employers, such as CVS & Walgreens, while applying their new skills in a real-world industry setting.
