OLD BETHPAGE, NY (Aug. 12, 2014) – Just after the celebration of National S’mores Day (Aug. 10), Blue Rhino, the company known for its industry leading propane brand (www.BlueRhino.com), its Mr. Bar-B-Q® line of innovative, premier barbecue accessories and outdoor lifestyle tools (www.MrBarBQ.com), and other outdoor living products such as grills and fire pits, announces a partnership with The Hershey Company, the leading North American manufacturer of quality chocolate and non-chocolate confectionery and chocolate-related grocery products, to create a distinctive line of Hershey’s S’mores grilling accessories. The partnership was brokered by The Licensing Company, The Hershey Company’s representative for select licensing initiatives.
The licensed grilling tools, including grilling baskets, marshmallow sticks, melting trays and utensils, will allow families to create beloved Hershey’s S’mores treats on the grill in the backyard with less muss and fuss, and more fun. A traditional outdoor treat popular in the U.S. and Canada, a Hershey’s S’more consists of a golden, toasted marshmallow and half of a Hershey’s milk chocolate bar sandwiched between two pieces of graham cracker and grilled until the Hershey’s chocolate melts. The true origin of the gooey, finger-lickin’ snack is unknown, but the first recipe for s’mores was published in 1927 in the Girl Scout Handbook. The Hershey Company makes more than 373 million Hershey’s milk chocolate bars a year—enough for 746 million s’mores.
“Hershey’s S’mores grilling accessories will further establish Hershey’s as the only chocolate to use when making the ultimate s’more. The products will emphasize the interactive, fun nature of creating the treat, while making the process easier and safer,” said Marc Zemel, President, Blue Rhino Products US. ”Trends show that consumers are grilling more unique foods and recipes all the time.
“We are thrilled to work with Blue Rhino, a proven grilling expert, to further extend the iconic Hershey’s brand name into a category closely aligned with our Hershey’s S’more initiatives,” said Ernie Savo, Director of Global Licensing at The Hershey Company.
Hershey’s S’mores grilling accessories will be available in early 2015 at mass and grocery retailers with suggested retail prices of $2.99 to $14.99. Blue Rhino’s full product line is at www.bluerhino.com.
