Fort Walton Beach, Fl. –Tom Hermanson, a consultant of the Florida SBDC at the University of West Florida will speak on the topic of Opportunities in Small Business and Why You Should Not Start One. While building a business from the ground up appeals to the creative nature of entrepreneurs, veterans are often well-suited to acquire an existing business or adopt a proven business model.

Existing businesses are often overlooked due to the complexity of evaluating an ongoing business or obtaining funding. The Florida SBDC at UWF assists in the preparing of business plans and funding proposals for both new and existing businesses. The Federal Reserve predicts 7.7 million businesses will be bought and sold in the next 10 years. Tom Hermanson will identify how demographics of business owners are driving the growth in business transitions and leading to a buyer’s market.

The Florida Small Business Development Center is a statewide partnership between higher education and economic development organization dedicated to providing emerging and established business owners with assistance enabling overall growth and increased profitability that contributes to the economic prosperity of the state.
