Los Angeles, CA – Renowned singer/songwriter and military philanthropist, Laura Bryna was named the new co-national spokesperson for the Wounded in Action Family Foundation (WIAFF). WIAFF’s CEO Warren Elliott made the announcement during Laura’s stellar jazz performance at Herb Alpert’s Vibrato Grill Jazz on Sunday 12th January. To commemorate the occasion, Annin Flags, this country’s oldest flag manufacturer and supporter of the WIAFF, presented Laura with the American flag which was flown on the US Army base in Afghanistan on September 11 2011.
”I am so excited and honored to be the co-national spokesperson for the Wounded In Action Family Foundation” said Laura of the announcement. “According to some reports, there are approximately 1.2 million of our military in harm’s way throughout the world keeping us safe so we can live our lives in freedom and fulfill our dreams. They sacrifice time away from their families, risk their lives, and if wounded, spend untold amounts of time rehabilitating in hospitals around the world.”
“We cannot abandon these brave men and women in their time of need. Our help and the type of support offered by the WIAFF afford these brave men and women and their families the financial assistance they need to transition back into civilian life.”
Laura’s performance at Herb Alpert’s Vibrato Grill Jazz was the first to showcase her new, jazzier musical style. She performed jazz classics such as “Big Spender”, “Man of the Hour” and “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow” to a full house of jazz enthusiasts including the legendary Tom Jones! As part of her collaboration with WIAFF, Laura will be performing this set in a series of shows at the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas in early 2014.
Joining her last night and for her Vegas residency, will be her band of seasoned instrumentalists, who collectively, have worked with all of today’s superstars! Loren Gold will take the lead as Musical Director and Pianist. Gold currently works with artists such as The Who, Roger Daltrey, and Kenny Logins and has worked as Musical Director and consultant for young artists such as Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato, Mandy Moore and Hilary Duff.
