S Jaishankar India Ambassador to US, welcomed by NRI’s & Indian Overseas Congress

Washington D.C. Sharon Davis. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, joined Indian Foreign Service in 1977, served in Moscow, studied Russian, Sri Lanka, Tokyo, Japan, Singapore, Press Secretary, for former President of India Shankar Dayal Sharma, many more important Foreign Affairs posts, in South Block,more recently Ambassador to China. S.Jaishankar has a distinguished IFS career, close to the heels of Foreign Secretary of India.

S. Jainshankar was appointed as Indian’s Ambassador to United States in September 2013, taking charge in Washington D.C. on December 23, 2013, succeeding Nirupama Rao.

Indian Overseas Congress, since 1981 has advised Former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, on various, India US Relations, including Former Ambassador of India, S.S. Ray, to form the India Caucus, Former Ambassador Abid Hussein on India Development , Human Rights Commission, UPA Chairman Mrs. Sonia Gandhi, to form Rajiv Gandhi Foundation in India, more recently Dr. Manmohan Singh on National Security Council, at par with U.S., among other NRI affairs, concerning Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs.

IOC President Vikram Bajwa, while welcoming Ambassador S.Jaishankar to US, elaborated the needed changes in Consulate General of India Offices, in San Francisco, New York, Chicago and Houston, to be presented to him on January 26, 2014. ” We look forward to his vast experience to bring India into the G-8 Nations, work on some serious issues of concern with Indo-Americans”, said Bajwa. GOPIO President Inder Singh, stresses the need of establishing a ” Nationalistic Movement”, among NRI’s and the Younger generation, to preserve and promote India Values of family system in US.
