2014 Gubernatorial Candidate Dr. Robert Ornelas visits community at Hamer Toyota in Mission Hills, CA for their 2013 Holiday Party. The Sal Rodriguez Band entertained customers and employees at Christmas event with a Latin style of music.

“Hamer Toyata and The Ken Garff Automotive Group gave me an opportunity to share encouraging words to the community of Mission Hills, CA. Current member Sal Rodriguez of the legendary American funk band War asked me to open the Christmas party with prayer. It was a tremendous honor to speak at Toyota because I believe in the principles that The Ken Garff Automotive Group stand on. They believe in giving back to the communities in which they serve. The company has given millions of dollars and thousands of hours to schools, charities and community organizations. They also provide educational incentives to youth and give to those that sacrifice their lives and time in the United States Armed Forces,” stated Dr. Robert Ornelas

Ornelas was accompanied by 2015 Los Angeles City Council candidate David Hernandez, 2014 Senate District 18 candidate Ricardo Benitez and international Hip Hop artist Krista Rocha from The S.O.G. Crew.

Ken Garff Helping Students Succeed
The Success in Education Foundation is a public charity founded in August 2011 to promote excellence in education, increase literacy, and help Utah students prepare for post-secondary education. The foundation is driven by a commitment to excellence in education and a desire to contribute in a meaningful way to every student’s educational experience. We seek to motivate students to improve academically by working with schools to reward educational accomplishments. Our vision is to bring together students, families, teachers, administrators, and our community in achieving our goals of 90% of all school age children reading at or above grade level, and 67% of high school students obtaining academic degrees or skilled trade certificates.

  • Road to Success is a rewards and recognition program promoting reading proficiency in elementary schools. The Road to Success program was developed five years ago in collaboration with the Governor’s Commission on Literacy in an effort to spread the Commission’s challenge to school children to read consistently. The program currently has over 240 participating elementary schools, with approximately 165,000 students and 11,000 faculty and staff. The Success in Education Foundation’s commitment is to provide a framework with tools for educators to help students, and incentives to motivate students to Read Every Day.
  • Keys to Success is a high school rewards and recognition program promoting academic improvement to increase graduation rates and encourage post-secondary enrollment. The Keys to Success program began over 10 years ago with a goal to motivate, recognize and reward students. Additionally, Keys to Success is partnered with multiple universities, post-secondary educational institutions, and business sponsors to provide students with many scholarship opportunities. Over the past 10 years, the Keys to Success program has offered over 600 scholarships to Utah students, with a total value of well over half a million dollars.
