A local Aurora, Dixon, & St. Charles gym owner will be working out, alongside a team of others, to raise some money for Cancer victims on October 19th.
Synergy Kettlebell Training owner Bob Garon and his wife Lisa will be hosting a charity event on October 19th for the fourth annual One Hour Long Cycle.
“We’re looking forward to supporting such an excellent cause, and the person running it is a friend,” Garon said.
The fundraiser will take place at Bob’s Synergy Kettlebell Training gym in St. Charles, IL. There will also be several official satellite locations participating around the world for the event. Participants will be doing the long cycle (clean & jerk), an exercise where they bring the bell from between their legs to their chest, then while using leg strength, push it up over their head, and repeat this motion for one hour.
The money from past year’s kettlebell fundraiser supported Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance, Tsunami victims in Japan, and a children’s hospital. This year, kettlebell lifter Jason Dolby, owner of One Hour Long Cycle charity, out of California, wants to help people close to us who suffer from cancer. Earlier this year his brother’s best friend lost a battle to the disease and passed away.
In previous years, the Guinness Book of World Records was on hand, and records were set for the most people lifting weights in the same place, at the same time for one hour straight. There were many people who started and finished the one hour event, and nobody put their weights down. They all do it together.
Sergey Rachinskiy, one of the most decorated kettlebell sport athletes and coaches in all of Russia, set a world record for the most reps performed with one 24kg (53lb) kettlebell. He did 915 reps in one hour.
