Local church offers Celebrate Recovery for those who suffer from addictions and life’s hurts, habits and hang-ups.

Based on many successful step programs, Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-based approach to healing the body and spirit while recovering from addictions and life’s hurts, habits and hang-ups. Regardless of the addiction or personal trauma, Celebrate Recovery follows eight principles taken directly from Christ’s teaching and specifically the Sermon on the Mount.

“Christ brought a murderer with Him when He died on the cross for our sin. He will forgive you for your addictions and your past and we will welcome you with open arms to our church,” said Sheila Purifoy, Celebrate Recovery leader.

Celebrate Recovery meets on Monday nights. A meal is provided at 5:30 for a small donation, large group worship begins at 6:15.

After large group worship, men, women and newcomers break into small groups for healing sessions, and everyone comes back to the large group at 8;15 for dessert, coffee and fellowship.

“We will provide child care to children ages 6 and under for those who wish to attend. Parents are required to stay for the services to receive child care,” Purifoy continued.

South Banks Community Church is located in Morehead City North Carolina, an independent, non-denominational church. They are a contemporary church, meaning parishioners do not dress up or sing traditional church hymns. Instead, worshipers are encouraged to attend, grow and discover for themselves the grace and peace that is Jesus Christ. A particular emphasis is placed on youth and children.
