J.E.T. Theater Set to Host Show in Honor of Aurora, Colorado Shooting Victims
Los Angeles, CA — The J.E.T. Theater of North Hollywood will be the host of an upcoming show to raise funds for the victims of the recent shooting in Aurora, Colorado. Since that fateful night in July 2012, when moviegoers were targeted during a screening of “The Dark Knight Rises” many have come forward in support of this grieving community. Now, local actor Roe Moore and a group of actors who are former Colorado residents will gather at the J.E.T. Theater on Sunday, September 23, 2012 at 7:00 PM to share their stories and memories of Colorado in a production called “A Journey Through Colorado: A Tribute to Aurora.”
Moore is a native of Aurora and was deeply affected by the events of July 2012. In an attempt to reach out to the community she is producing a theatrical showcase featuring a cast of former Colorado residents who will speak about what it was like growing up in Colorado and relate to the audience just how wonderful Colorado is. The show will also feature music and a bit of improve all designed to raise money for the shooting victims. For Aurora native Roe it is personal. In describing the events that took place in Aurora and her response to them she said, “It really shook me up considering the shooter lived across from the school my mom teaches at and it was lucky that my brother didn’t attend the screening in which the shooting occurred.”
Many of the victims and their families continue to struggle and the financial strain on these individuals has taken a toll. Moore’s production and the money raised will be in support of the Aurora Public Schools Education Foundation, a local non-profit organization that helps families by providing temporary housing for those who were evacuated from the areas around the theater and the neighborhood where the shooter lived.
